Boise, ID (5/4/18)— Drew “The Eternal Fire” Brokenshire is the new Front Street Fights Featherweight champion, the challenger winning the belt from Matt “The Stripling Warrior” Jones on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena at Front Street Fights 17, presented by Bodybuilding.com.
Brokenshire (17-8-0) forced a tap from Jones (7-3-0) at 1:50 of the third round with a rear-naked choke. With blood pouring from Brokenshire’s nose, the Tacoma native secured the choke hold on a standing Jones, clinging to his back and able to hang on to force the submission. Brokenshire improved to 6-2 in title fights for his career, while Jones was defeated in the first title defense in Front Street Fights history to snap a three-fight winning streak.
It was the sixth victory of Brokenshire’s career via choke-hold.

Co-Main Event – Joe Boerschig (5-1-0) defeats William Dunkle (3-1-0) – Welterweight
Submission, Rear-Naked Choke at 2:17 of Round 2
Joe Boerschig came out swinging in his second appearance at Front Street Fights, landing punches on William Dunkle and handing him his first pro defeat via rear-naked choke midway through the second round. Boerschig avenged his only pro defeat, which came via unanimous decision against Kyle Frost at FSF14. Boerschig responds with the second submission victory of his pro career.
Nathan Stolen (8-3-0) defeats Kerry Lattimer (7-16-0) – Lightweight
TKO- Punches at 3:54 of Round 2
Kerry Lattimer landed punches early in the fight, opening up a cut on Nathan Stolen in a stand-up bout. Yet it was Stolen who finished, getting Lattimer to the ground and climbing on his back to throw punches until officials stopped the fight. The victory was Stolen’s first at Front Street Fights and snapped a two-fight skid. Lattimer takes the loss after winning a decision at Unsung Heroes of MMA six days earlier.
Stephen Stirewalt (1-0-0) defeats Lino Sanchez (1-1-0) – Bantamweight
Unanimous Decision
Boise’s Stephen Stirewalt captured his first professional victory in his pro debut, going the distance against Lino Sanchez. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, all in favor of Stirewalt after he landed two elbows to Sanchez’s head in the second round and controlled the fight until the finish. Stirewalt had earned amateur victories at CenturyLink Arena at FSF4, FSF9, and FSF13. Sanchez takes his first loss, having gone 4-0-0 as an amateur.
Amateur Card
Kyle Aslami (2-0-0) defeats Joe Rodriguez (0-2-0) – Flyweight
Unanimous Decision
The final fight on the amateur card went the distance, as both fighters stayed on their feet for the duration of the tilt and Aslami won on the scorecard. All three judges scored the fight 30-27 in favor of Aslami.
Tyler Trantham (3-2-0) defeats Tim Cameron (1-4-0) – Super Lightweight
TKO- Punches at 2:37 of Round 1
Tyler Trantham controlled the Super Lightweight bout from the start, getting Tim Cameron to the ground twice and landing punches until the fight was stopped by the official. Trantham earned the victory in his Front Street Fights debut, his third win by knockout.
Scott Devlin (1-0-0) defeats Anthony Garibai (0-1-0) – Super Middleweight
Submission, Rear-Naked Choke at 2:17 of Round 3
Scott Devlin and Anthony Garibai each made their MMA debuts in an amateur Super Middleweight bout, taking the fight into the final minute of the third round. A ground battle throughout, Devlin defeated Garibai with a rear-naked choke to earn his first amateur win.
Of the seven fights, amateur and pro combined, five were won by fighters from outside Idaho.
