University of Idaho basketball game moved to Boise

(Boise, ID) – The University of Idaho and Qwest Arena have reached an agreement to relocate the men’s basketball game between the Vandals and Lewis-Clark State College to Boise on December 29th.

That is the night before the Idaho football team faces Bowling Green in the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl at Bronco Stadium. The Vandal band and cheerleaders will perform at the game and there will be an appearance by Robb Akey and the Vandal football team as well.

The basketball game had been scheduled to be played at Memorial Gym in Moscow with few students on campus during winter break.

“It makes sense for them because of all the boosters, alumni, and students in town,” Qwest Arena President John Cunningham said. “And it makes sense for us because it was an open date at the arena where we can help generate some added business in downtown Boise.”

Game time is 7 PM at Qwest Arena. A limited number of court-side seats will be available for $20 each. Tickets are $15 for lower-bowl seats and $10 for upper-bowl seats. There is also an $8 ticket for fans with University of Idaho student ID cards.

The Vandals, led by second-year head coach Don Verlin, carry a 5-3 record into the weekend, including an impressive win over then-nationally ranked Portland on December 6. Lewis-Clark State College, an NAIA school in Lewiston, is 6-3 on the season.

The Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League has provided use of the basketball floor and arena setup. The Stampede will also cater to Vandal fans by offering a “buy one, get one free” ticket deal for D-League game on Monday, December 28, to fans who show a ticket to the Humanitarian Bowl, the Idaho/LC State basketball game, or who have a valid Idaho student ID card. The offer is subject to availability in the “Wrangler” section.

Tickets to watch the University of Idaho take on Lewis-Clark State College go on sale Monday afternoon, December 14, at the Qwest Arena box office. They can be purchased by calling the 208.331.TIXS or by visiting www.qwestarenaidaho.com. Fans interested in purchasing a suite to the game should call 208.383.0080 and ask to speak to an account representative.
