Wineland vs. Perez joins UFC Fight Night 133

Boise, ID (5/25/18)— Eddie Wineland, the 15th-ranked Bantamweight in the world, looks to break Alejandro Perez’s six-fight unbeaten streak when the pair meet in the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 133 on July 14th at CenturyLink Arena. It is the ninth fight announced for Idaho’s first-ever UFC event.

Wineland (23-12-1) fights for the 12th time in UFC, his first appearance since a defeat by unanimous decision to John Dodson at UFC Fight Night 108 back in April 2017. Fighting out of Indiana, the 33 year-old Wineland has won two of his last three fights and was a contender for a Bantamweight Title in 2013, when he lost his challenge for the belt against Renan Barao at UFC 165. Of his five victories with UFC, four have come via knockout or TKO.

Perez (22-6-1) has not lost since June 2015, going 5-0-1 in that span and coming off a second-round TKO victory over Matthew Lopez at UFC on Fox 29. The 28 year-old Mexican fighter fighting out of California has a 6-1-1 record in the UFC and was a star of the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter Latin America” in 2014, winning the Bantamweight tournament. In his career, Perez has won nine fights via knockout or TKO, and six via submission.

Wineland and Perez join a fight card that already features the Main Event Heavyweight bout between Junior Dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov, along with seven other fights. James Vick and Paul Felder meet for a Lightweight bout in the Co-Main Event.
