Boise, ID (5/12/17)— Idaho’s Jesse Brock improved his professional record to 23-9 on his way to claiming the first ever Front Street Fights Bantamweight Title belt, defeating Canada’s Noah Ali by unanimous decision in the Main Event of Front Street Fights 12, presented by BodyBuilding.com, at CenturyLink Arena on Friday night.
Brock was one of four fighters representing SBG Idaho to earn victories at Front Street Fights 12, joined by Matt “The Stripling Warrior” Jones and Brandon Todd on the pro card and 18-year old Noah Shultz on the amateur card. Shultz became the youngest fighter and winner in Front Street Fights history.

PRO CARD
Main Event – Bantamweight Championship Bout
Jesse Brock (23-9) defeats Noah Ali (9-4) by unanimous decision
Brock was awarded the Bantamweight Title belt after five five-minute rounds, when the judges scored the bout 48-47, 50-45, and 50-45 in his favor against Noah “The Chosen Defender” Ali. Brock was patient throughout the fight, using timely take-downs to keep Ali to the outside of the cage in his first fight on US soil. Ali’s best opportunities came in the first and fourth rounds when he came dangerously close to securing choke holds with Brock’s head under his arm, but each time Brock slipped away to re-establish position. The fight was Brock’s second five-round fight, and Ali’s first, with Brock also earning a five-round victory via unanimous decision back in 2011 at SF29. Brock is now 4-0 in his career at Front Street Fights.
Co-Main Event – Featherweight Bout
Matt Jones (6-2) defeats Carson Frei (6-3) by knockout at 1:46 of the Third Round
Carson Frei was in decent position starting the third round of the co-main event, having kept Matt “The Stripling Warrior” Jones to the perimeter of the cage and on the defensive. Jones changed it all with one shot early in the third, a spinning elbow that caught Frei directly to the chin for a knockout blow. The victory improved Jones to 5-2-0 in his seven career contests at Front Street Fights and the first knockout victory of his professional career. Frei has now lost consecutive bouts.
Lightweight Bout
Brandon Todd (1-0) defeats Michael Garcia (1-1) by Submission at 2:38 of the Second Round
Michael “The Animal” Garcia had the impressive pro debut at FSF11, but at Front Street Fights 12 it was Brandon Todd using his versatility on the ground to earn his first professional win. While both fighters tried to establish control of the fight on the ground, Todd was able to slip out of the holds of Garcia before ultimately grabbing Garcia’s left leg and rolling to achieve a knee-bar and force Garcia to tap for the submission.
Bantamweight Bout
Lino Sanchez (1-0) defeats Mario Cervantes (0-1) by Unanimous Decision
Lino Sanchez and Mario Cervantes both made their pro debuts at Front Street Fights 12, and theirs was the only fight of the night besides the main event to go the distance. Sanchez was making his first appearance since last July at Clash MMA 18, but Cervantes had not fought since April 2013. Sanchez got the better of Cervantes in the striking game, with the final seconds of the third round ticking off and with Cervantes defending several cuts to his face. The judges scored the fight 30-26, 30-25, 30-27 for Sanchez, who was also a winner as an amateur at FSF5 and FSF6.
AMATEUR CARD
Bantamweight Bout
JohnBoy McComas (3-1) defeats Ben Hollier (1-1) by Submission at :35 of the First Round
JohnBoy McComas earned a controversial win in the amateur headliner, delivering a spinning-backhand to the face of Ben Hollier as Hollier had reached for a glove-tap at the start of the first round. The blow staggered Hollier, who would submit via guillotine choke 35 seconds into the first round. All three of McComas’ amateur victories have come via first round knockout in 36 seconds or less.
Lightweight Bout
Colton Armas (1-0) defeats Tim Cameron (1-1) by Submission at 2:12 of the Third Round
Tim Cameron controlled the majority of his fight against Colton Armas on Friday night, but a mistake in the third round gave Armas the edge in his MMA debut. With Armas on his back and Cameron standing over him, Armas was able to secure a triangle choke with his legs that forced Cameron to tap out.
Flyweight Bout
Noah Shultz (1-0) defeats Justin McCormick (0-1) by Submission at 1:21 of the First Round
Front Street Fights’ youngest competitor did not wait long to become its youngest winner, as Timberline High School senior Noah Shultz defeated 24-year old Justin McCormick with a rear-naked choke just 1:21 into the first round.
12 of the 14 fighters at Front Street Fights 12 were Idaho-based.
