Thometz, Castillo to headline Front Street Fights 9

Boise, ID (6/27/16)—Scott “Tickle Fight” Thometz makes his fourth appearance at Front Street Fights this summer when he squares off against David Castillo in the main event at Front Street Fights 9. The two MMA veterans meet August 12th at CenturyLink Arena to battle for the Lightweight Championship belt.

Thometz (10-5-0) is coming off an impressive win under the bright lights of Bellator 155 at CenturyLink Arena in May, a unanimous decision over Josh Tyler. Thometz, 31, is a 5’7” native of Boise and has won three of his four career fights at CenturyLink Arena, his lone defeat coming at Front Street Fights 7. Thometz will be looking for his sixth win in his last seven fights to capture the Lightweight Championship.

Castillo (19-8-0) is on loan from the RFA and will make his first appearance at Front Street Fights. The 34 year-old Salt Lake City native is 5’10” and looking to bounce back from a submission defeat in the main event at RFA 35 to Thiago Moises back in February, a fight in which Castillo was vying for the vacant lightweight title. Now Castillo has another opportunity at a championship belt in his first ever meeting with Thometz.

Castillo has earned 15 of his 19 professional wins via submission or knockout, while four of Thometz’s ten wins have gone the distance.

In the co-main event, Matt Jones returns to CenturyLink Arena to face Kerry Lattimer in a featherweight, which will be Lattimer’s Front Street Fights debut. An Idaho native, the 24 year-old Jones (4-2-0) will be making his sixth appearance at Front Street Fights and hoping to avenge his only loss in the cage in downtown Boise, a split decision against Josh Tyler as FSF 8. Lattimer (5-10-0), a 31 year-old fighter from Pocatello, Idaho, is coming off a defeat at Fightforce: Butte Brawl 20 against Samuel Rauch, where he had an opportunity to claim the lightweight title.

The remaining fight card for Front Street Fights 9 will be announced over the coming days.
