CenturyLink, Block 22 extend naming rights to CenturyLink Arena

BOISE, IdahoCenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Block 22 LLC, ownership group of Idaho Sports Properties, CenturyLink Arena and the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads, announced  Oct. 7 that the naming rights agreement for CenturyLink Arena has been extended for an additional five years.

“Renewing our sponsorship with Block 22 allows us to maintain the relationship we have had with the community of Boise and southeast Idaho since obtaining the naming rights in 2005,” said Jim Schmit, CenturyLink’s vice president of operations for Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. “We are excited about renewing this agreement as it will allow us to continue showcasing CenturyLink’s brand and products, including high-speed Internet, and to increase our general market awareness through numerous partnership opportunities – all while supporting great local sporting and other events taking place at CenturyLink Arena.”

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with CenturyLink,” said Idaho Steelheads President and CenturyLink Arena General Manager Eric Trapp. “Working with CenturyLink, we’ve been able to provide a first-class experience for Idaho sports fans, and together we have played a more prominent role in serving the charities in our community. We look forward to continuing that relationship.”

CenturyLink will continue to serve as the exclusive communications provider for CenturyLink Arena and the Idaho Steelheads, as well as the Grove Hotel. CenturyLink will also continue its sponsorship of the Steelheads’ Hat Trick Program, as well as numerous public skating events and charity drives.

“CenturyLink has shown a strong commitment to this community throughout our partnership,” said Block 22 CEO John Cunningham. “We are confident that what we have accomplished together, and the benefits experienced by our fans, will only continue to grow over the next five years.”

CenturyLink Arena serves as home to the Steelheads, as well as the NBA Development League’s Idaho Stampede and the Front Street Fights mixed martial arts franchise.

The Steelheads open the 2015-16 regular season on Oct. 16 at CenturyLink Arena against the Rapid City Rush. Tickets are available via the CenturyLink Arena box office online or by calling 208-331-8497.
