Emma Ballantyne named CenturyLink Arena Employee of the Year

Boise, ID (3/7/16)—Block 22 LLC has announced that Emma Ballantyne, Guest Services Manager and Event Coordinator, has been named Employee of the Year for 2015 at CenturyLink Arena. Emma earns this recognition for her outstanding effort in her first year in this position and her valued contributions to guests and performers at the arena.

This is Emma’s fifth year working at CenturyLink Arena. She spent her first four years in the CenturyLink Arena Box Office, starting off as a Box Office Clerk but working her way up to Assistant Manager of the box office before being promoted to Guest Services Manager and Event Coordinator this year.

Emma thrived this year in a position that requires exceptional communication and organization skills. She manages a staff of 75 employees and serves as the main contact point for all performing acts at the arena. She works alongside Dave Smith, Director of Arena Security, to organize the staffing, scheduling, and equipping of all members of the security staff, as well as event ushers.

For all Steelheads and Stampede home games, as well as concerts, trade shows, circuses, and other events, Emma is responsible for coordinating all plans down to the simplest details to accommodate the needs of athletes and performers. That includes tasks as complicated as coordinating floor plans and arranging tables for events and as simple as arranging for food and dressing rooms, and distributing information to the performers.

Emma also works directly with the fans, handling fans’ ticketing concerns and questions. She is the back-up box office manager, in charge of stocking supplies for the Event Level offices and the box office. Emma also coordinates medical help for fans at CenturyLink Arena when necessary.

“Emma has been such an incredible addition to our management team at CenturyLink Arena,” said General Manager Eric Trapp. “In just her first year in this new role, she has flourished and proven to be a vital member of our team. Her efforts are essential to the success of the many events we host at CenturyLink Arena.”

Highlighting her terrific performance was a week in late September, when Emma covered the duties of Box Office Manager in addition to her own duties, while at the same time coordinating a Boise State University Hockey event, the 24-Hour Think Challenge overnight event, and a concert performed by Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band. Not surprisingly, all events were held without issue.

A Boise State University graduate, this is Emma’s first Employee of the Year Award.

CenturyLink Arena is located in the heart of downtown Boise, attached to The Grove Hotel.
