Local fighters announced for Bellator 205 undercard

Boise, ID (7/30/18)— Six Idaho-based fighters, and six Front Street Fights veterans, will step inside the cage at CenturyLink Arena on September 21st to fight on the undercard for Bellator 205: Curran vs. McKee, Bellator’s second Boise event in the past three years.

Vince Morales, Andrew Cruz, David Rangel, Kyle Frost, Joe Aguirre, and Stephen Stirewalt will all fight in front of a hometown crowd, with Aguirre making his first appearance at CenturyLink Arena. Washington’s Nathan Stolen is also on the undercard, readying for his second fight at CenturyLink Arena after a successful Boise debut at FSF 17 in May.

Morales (7-2-0) will fight for the second time with Bellator, and the seventh time professionally at CenturyLink Arena when he faces Justin Hugo (3-4-0) out of Washington. The 27 year-old Morales is coming off just his second professional loss, a second-round submission loss to Domingo Pilarte in July at Dana White’s Contender Series. Prior to that fight, Morales enjoyed a five fight winning streak. He is 5-1-0 professionally at CenturyLink Arena, including a victory at Bellator 155 in May of 2016 and a since-vacated FSF Featherweight Title.

The 25 year-old Hugo makes his Bellator debut coming off consecutive losses, most recently fighting in February at Dominate FC and suffering a first-round submission loss to Joey Elzea. Hugo has fought professionally for five different promotions, including World Series of Fighting.

Cruz (3-3-0) looks to snap a three-fight losing streak when he takes on Stolen (8-3-0), with Stolen making a strong first impression at CenturyLink Arena in May with a TKO victory over Kerry Lattimer at FSF 17. Stolen’s victory in Boise snapped a two-fight skid, giving him his sixth pro victory by knockout or TKO. Cruz seeks his first victory since August 2016 at FSF 9.

Frost (2-0-0) looks to stay perfect in his third pro appearance in Boise, following victories at FSF 14 and FSF 16. The 30 year-old fighter was also a perfect 4-0-0 as an amateur with three of those fights coming on Front Street Fights amateur cards. Frost will face Rangel (0-1-0), an Idaho fighter coming off a submission defeat in his professional debut against Michael Garcia at FSF 11 in February 2017.

Stirewalt (1-0-0) earned his first pro victory at FSF 17 with a unanimous decision over Lino Sanchez. He had already appeared at three Front Street Fights events as an amateur. Aguirre (2-0-0) will take his first fight since November 2016. That year he earned two victories at King of the Cage, first round submission wins against Chris Bateman and Bobby Sanchez.

In addition to the local figthers announced on Wednesday, the fight card already features a female bout between Boise’s Veta Arteaga and Bellator Kickboxing Flyweight Champion Denise Kieholtz. Bellator 205 is headlined by the Featherweight fight between two-time world champion Pat Curran and undefeated AJ McKee. Tickets are on sale now, starting as low as $30.
