CenturyLink Arena voted Best Public Sports Facility of 2018

Boise, ID (5/31/18)— CenturyLink Arena has been the place to be in 2018, and the polls prove it. CenturyLink Arena was named Boise’s top public sports venue according to this year’s Best of Boise list, unveiled by Boise Weekly on Wednesday.

The Best of Boise 2018 lists were composed based on surveys of Boise Weekly readers, polling preferences in food, entertainment, recreation, artists, and performers. CenturyLink Arena was ranked ahead of Taco Bell Arena and Treasure Valley Family YMCA as Treasure Valley Sports fans’ favorite venue.

It is the first time that CenturyLink Arena has earned the top ranking.

“We are so proud of this honor because it comes straight from our customers and the fans of our events,” said CenturyLink Arena General Manager Eric Trapp. “Whether it be dedicated fans of the Idaho Steelheads or the sports fans who come to enjoy Front Street Fights and the many other unique spectacles we host, we pride ourselves in providing a first-class and intimate atmosphere for Idaho sports fans.”

“We often say that there isn’t a bad seat inside CenturyLink Arena, and we’re thrilled that the fans agree.”

The arena has made aggressive strides in recent years, booking exciting new events and renovating the luxury suites in partnership with the attached Grove Hotel.

CenturyLink Arena has been the home of the Idaho Steelheads hockey team of the ECHL for 21 seasons. This past season, the arena hosted 18 sell-outs for Steelheads hockey, the most since the 1999-2000 season, and a total of 163,743 fans. The arena is also the home for the Front Street Fights MMA promotion, hosting four fights per year.

The arena’s success in recent years is attracting prominent sporting events with a national scope. On July 14th, CenturyLink Arena will host UFC Fight Night 133, Boise’s first UFC event televised live on FS1. CenturyLink Arena will host the Big Sky Conference men’s and women’s basketball championships for 2019, 2020, and 2021. Last summer, the arena hosted an international friendly between the US National Arena Soccer Team and Team Brazil, Boise’s first arena soccer match.

The path to the X Games also runs through CenturyLink Arena, with Harley-Davidson Hooligan Racing coming to the arena bowl on June 15th.

CenturyLink Arena has served as the hub of downtown Boise’s sports and music entertainment since opening its doors in the fall of 1997, hosting an average of 100 events annually and welcoming over 5.5 million attendees in 21 years. The arena has bowl seating for 5,000 guests and additional floor seating for select events. In two decades in Boise, CenturyLink Arena has hosted basketball, hockey, mixed martial arts, arena football, indoor soccer, Motocross, boxing, and gymnastics events.
